Welcome

6th International Conference for Water Safety

We are thrilled to announce the 6th International Conference for Water Safety, a collaboration between the International Water Association (IWA), Obras Sanitarias del Estado (OSE), Facultad de Ingeniería, Universidad de la República (FING) and its Fundación Julio Ricaldoni (FJR) in Uruguay. The conference is co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), and will take place from 4-6 September, 2024 in the vibrant city of Montevideo, Uruguay.

This significant event aims to delve into the latest developments, learnings, and critical challenges concerning the provision of safe and dependable drinking water services at an affordable cost. It will address the increasing impacts and uncertainties stemming from climate variability and change.

At the core of this conference lies the discussion and implementation of Water Safety Plans (WSPs), recognized globally as the standard for ensuring the reliable management of drinking water supplies to protect public health. WSPs play a vital role in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6, emphasizing the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

The collaboration between the IWA, OSE, FING, FJR and other partners underscores the commitment to promote and integrate water safety planning principles into daily operations, maintenance, and management activities of utilities and municipalities responsible for water supply.

This conference promises to be a pivotal platform to share insights, strategies, and innovative solutions. We encourage your active participation to contribute and engage in this essential dialogue towards ensuring safe and sustainable water resources for all.
